Abdulmejid I

Abdulmejid I was an Ottoman Emperor from 1839 to 1861, known for modernizing his empire. He introduced significant reforms called the Tanzimat, aimed at modernizing the legal, military, and administrative systems to strengthen the state and ensure equality among citizens. His reign saw efforts to secularize laws, improve education, and promote economic development. Abdulmejid also faced challenges from internal dissent and territorial pressures.
