Nicene orthodoxy
Nicene orthodoxy refers to the set of Christian beliefs established during the First Council of Nicaea in 325 AD. It affirmed the belief in the Trinity—God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—and that Jesus Christ is both fully divine and fully human. This council aimed to unify Christian doctrine and counter various interpretations of faith. The Nicene Creed, a statement of these beliefs, became a foundation for mainstream Christianity, emphasizing the importance of Jesus’s divine nature and his role in salvation. Essentially, it defines core beliefs that many Christian churches still uphold today.
