Cappadocian Fathers

The Cappadocian Fathers were three influential Christian theologians from the region of Cappadocia in present-day Turkey during the 4th century: Basil the Great, his brother Gregory of Nyssa, and Gregory Nazianzen. They played a crucial role in shaping early Christian theology, particularly regarding the Trinity—the understanding of God as three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Their writings helped clarify complex theological concepts and addressed key issues in early Christianity, influencing both church doctrine and the development of monasticism. They are revered as saints in both Eastern Orthodox and Western Christian traditions.
