Gregory of Nyssa

Gregory of Nyssa was an influential Christian theologian and philosopher from the 4th century, known for exploring the nature of God, the soul, and spiritual growth. He believed that understanding God requires an approach beyond human logic, emphasizing that divine truth is infinite and continuously reveals itself. Gregory also taught that humans can become more like God through spiritual development, a concept called the "osis"—the process of divine becoming. His ideas helped shape Eastern Orthodox theology and promoted the view that the journey of faith involves ongoing transformation and union with the divine.
