The Council of Nicaea

The Council of Nicaea, held in 325 AD, was a significant gathering of Christian bishops convened by Emperor Constantine in Nicaea (modern-day Turkey). Its main purpose was to address disputes about Christian beliefs, particularly the nature of Jesus Christ and his relationship to God. The council resulted in the Nicene Creed, a statement of faith affirming the belief in the Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) and declaring that Jesus is "true God from true God." This meeting helped establish foundational doctrines for Christianity and sought to unify the faith against various heretical views that were emerging at the time.
