Nawabs of Bengal
The Nawabs of Bengal were regional rulers in India during the 18th century, primarily of Muslim descent, who held power in Bengal and its surrounding areas. They emerged after the decline of the Mughal Empire and played a significant role in the region’s economy and culture. The most notable Nawab was Siraj-ud-Daula, known for his conflict with the British East India Company, culminating in the Battle of Plassey in 1757, which marked the beginning of British colonial rule in India. The Nawabs were influential in shaping Bengal's history, administration, and cultural heritage.
