Waqf

Waqf is an Islamic philanthropic practice where a person dedicates a property, wealth, or asset for religious, educational, or charitable purposes, intending it to benefit the community indefinitely. Once designated as Waqf, the asset is usually managed by an appointed trustee or organization, and the income generated is used to support mosques, schools, healthcare, or other social needs. This act of giving is considered a form of continuous charity (sadaqah jariyah), where the benefit persists beyond the donor’s lifetime, fostering sustainable social development and aid.
