National Radiological Protection Board
The National Radiological Protection Board (NRPB) was a UK organization responsible for safeguarding public health against radiation risks. Established in 1970, its main roles included researching radiation effects, providing advice on safety standards, and helping manage emergency situations involving radiation. The NRPB aimed to protect people and the environment from harmful exposure, operating through scientific assessment and public education. In 2005, it merged into the Health Protection Agency (HPA) to continue its mission within a broader health framework, emphasizing the importance of understanding and managing radiation in daily life and industry.
