Health Protection Agency

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) was a UK organization responsible for protecting public health by preventing and controlling infectious diseases, environmental hazards, and chemical risks. It monitored outbreaks, provided advice, and coordinated responses to health threats to ensure communities stay safe. The HPA also conducted research and supported vaccination programs. In 2013, it was merged into Public Health England to streamline efforts, but its core functions remain focused on safeguarding health through vigilance, research, and effective public health strategies.
