Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr

Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr (1935-1980) was an influential Iraqi Shia cleric, philosopher, and Islamic scholar. He is best known for his significant contributions to Islamic thought and political activism. Sadr advocated for social justice and economic reform within an Islamic framework. He developed a theory of Islamic economics and wrote important works like "Iqtisaduna" (Our Economics). His ideas inspired a movement for political Islam, particularly in Iraq, and he played a key role in the evolution of Shiite political thought. Tragically, he was executed by the Saddam Hussein regime, but his legacy continues to influence Islamic scholarship and activism.
