Medieval Spain
Medieval Spain, spanning roughly from the 5th to the late 15th century, was a period marked by diverse cultures, including Christian, Muslim, and Jewish communities. Following the fall of the Western Roman Empire, various kingdoms emerged, most notably the Christian kingdoms of Castile, Aragon, and León, and the Muslim Caliphate of Córdoba. The Reconquista, a centuries-long effort to reclaim land from Muslims, culminated in 1492 when Ferdinand and Isabella united Spain. This era fostered rich cultural exchanges, influencing art, science, and architecture, evident in landmarks like the Alhambra and the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.
