Manuel II of Portugal
Manuel II of Portugal was the last king of Portugal, reigning from 1908 until the monarchy's abolition in 1910. He ascended to the throne after the assassination of his father, King Carlos I. His reign was marked by political instability and social unrest, including rising republican sentiments. After a revolution in 1910, Manuel II fled to exile in England, where he lived for the rest of his life. His rule is often seen as a period that highlighted the decline of the Portuguese monarchy, which ultimately led to the establishment of the Portuguese Republic.
