Lubdub (cardiology)
"Lubdub" refers to the sound of the heart beating. It is created by the closing of the heart valves during each heartbeat. The "lub" (S1) occurs when the atrioventricular valves close as the heart pumps blood to the body, while the "dub" (S2) happens when the pulmonary and aortic valves close as the heart refills with blood. These sounds are important indicators of heart health and can be heard through a stethoscope during a medical examination. Abnormalities in these sounds may suggest underlying heart conditions that require further evaluation.
