cardiac electrophysiology

Cardiac electrophysiology is the study of the electrical activity of the heart. The heart has its own electrical system that controls heartbeats, ensuring that it pumps effectively. Electrical signals originate in a group of cells called the sinoatrial (SA) node, which acts as the heart's natural pacemaker. These signals travel through the heart muscle, triggering contractions. When this system is disrupted, it can lead to arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats), which can affect blood flow. Understanding these electrical processes helps in diagnosing and treating various heart conditions.
