Helen B. Taussig was a pioneering American pediatric cardiologist renowned for her work in congenital heart defects. She developed procedures to improve blood flow in children born with heart abnormalities, notably coarctation of the aorta. Taussig’s research and innovations significantly advanced how doctors diagnose and treat childhood heart conditions, saving countless lives. She also co-founded the American Heart Association’s pediatric section.
