
Lokmanya Tilak
Lokmanya Tilak, born in 1856, was a prominent Indian independence activist, educator, and reformer. He is often referred to as the “Father of Indian Nationalism” for his efforts to unite Indians against British colonial rule. Tilak emphasized self-rule and was a key figure in the Indian National Congress. His famous slogan, “Swaraj is my birthright,” rallied support for self-governance. He also promoted cultural revival and social reform, advocating education for all. Tilak's legacy continues to inspire movements for freedom and social justice in India. He passed away in 1920 but remains a pivotal figure in Indian history.
