
Bal Gandadhar Tilak
Bal Gangadhar Tilak (1856-1920) was an influential Indian nationalist leader, social reformer, and a key figure in the Indian independence movement. Often referred to as the "Father of Indian Unrest," he promoted self-rule and was a vocal critic of British colonial rule. Tilak advocated for India's rights through education and political activism, famously coining the slogan "Swaraj is my birthright."
