Law of War

The Law of War, also known as International Humanitarian Law, governs how wars are conducted. It aims to protect individuals who are not participating in hostilities, like civilians and prisoners of war, and regulates the means and methods of warfare. Violations can lead to military criminal charges, such as war crimes, which include actions like targeting civilians or using prohibited weapons. Essentially, it sets rules to limit suffering during armed conflicts and to ensure that military operations are conducted ethically and humanely, even in times of war.
