
Lal Bahadur Shastri
Lal Bahadur Shastri was the Prime Minister of India from 1964 to 1966. Known for his leadership during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965, he famously coined the slogan "Jai Jawan Jai Kisan," meaning “Hail the Soldier, Hail the Farmer,” highlighting the importance of both. Shastri advocated for agricultural reforms and economic modernization, contributing to India's Green Revolution. He was a humble and principled leader, emphasizing integrity and simplicity. Shastri died unexpectedly in Tashkent shortly after signing a peace treaty with Pakistan, and his legacy is remembered for his resolve and commitment to India's development.
