Tashkent Agreement
The Tashkent Agreement was a peace treaty signed in 1966 between India and Pakistan, following the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965. Named after the capital of Uzbekistan, where the agreement was brokered, it aimed to restore peace, economic relations, and territorial integrity between the two countries. Both nations agreed to withdraw troops and normalize diplomatic relations. The agreement marked a significant step towards reducing tensions in the region, although it did not resolve the underlying issues, particularly over the Kashmir conflict, which continues to affect India-Pakistan relations today.
