Laban Movement Analysis

Laban Movement Analysis (LMA) is a system for observing, describing, and understanding human movement. It breaks down motion into four main components: Body (how parts of the body move), Effort (the quality or feeling of movement, like sudden or smooth), Shape (how the body and its form change in space), and Space (the direction and level of movement). LMA is used in dance, theater, therapy, and sports to analyze and improve movement skills, enhance expressiveness, and promote physical awareness. It offers a structured way to interpret movement patterns and their emotional or functional significance.
