The Labansystem

The Laban System, created by Rudolph Laban, is a way to analyze and describe human movement. It breaks down movement into four main components: Body (what parts are moving), Effort (the energy or intention behind the movement), Shape (the form created by the body in motion), and Space (the environment where movement occurs). This system is widely used in dance, theater, and physical education to help understand and improve movement practices. By categorizing movements in this way, it enables performers and educators to enhance expression, communication, and physical coordination.
