Kwame Nkrumah was a prominent Ghanaian leader and the first Prime Minister and President of Ghana, which became the first African nation to gain independence from colonial rule in 1957. Born in 1909, he was a key figure in the Pan-African movement, advocating for unity among African countries and liberation from colonialism. His policies focused on industrialization and education. However, his government faced criticism for authoritarianism, leading to his overthrow in a coup in 1966. Nkrumah left a lasting legacy in African politics, promoting ideas of self-governance and economic independence. He passed away in 1972.
