Kingdom of Arles
The Kingdom of Arles was a medieval political entity in Southern France, emerging in the 10th century. Established after the fall of the Carolingian Empire, it encompassed parts of Provence, the Rhône Valley, and was linked to the Holy Roman Empire. Its capital was Arles, a key city in trade and culture. The kingdom's rulers, often dukes, had complex relationships with neighboring territories and the church. While it had significance in regional politics, by the 12th century, it gradually lost independence, becoming integrated into the broader Kingdom of France and transitioning to feudal control by local nobles.
