Richard I of England (Richard the Lionheart)

Richard I of England, commonly known as Richard the Lionheart, was king from 1189 to 1199. Renowned for his military leadership, he is best remembered for his role in the Third Crusade, where he sought to reclaim Jerusalem from Muslim control. Despite his nickname, which reflects his bravery, Richard spent much of his reign fighting abroad and rarely ruled England directly. His reign is marked by chivalric ideals and fierce battles, particularly against the infamous Saladin. Richard's legacy is that of a warrior king, celebrated in folklore and history for his courage and prowess.
