Khilafat Conference

The Khilafat Conference, held in 1919 in India, aimed to support the Ottoman Empire, particularly in response to its disintegration after World War I. Indian Muslims, led by figures like Mahatma Gandhi and the Ali Brothers, sought to protect the Caliphate, an important symbol of Islamic unity. The conference emphasized Indian Muslim solidarity and aimed to rally support against British colonial rule, seeking to address local grievances while promoting pan-Islamic unity. It marked a significant moment of Hindu-Muslim collaboration in the Indian independence movement, although it later faced challenges and declined in influence.
