Khalqi Party

The Khalqi Party, officially known as the People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan (PDPA), was a political organization founded in the 1960s that promoted communist ideologies. It gained power after the 1978 Saur Revolution, leading to significant social and economic reforms in Afghanistan, including land redistribution and women's rights. However, its radical policies and close ties with the Soviet Union sparked resistance and conflict, ultimately contributing to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in 1979. The factional struggles within the PDPA exacerbated the violence, leading to a protracted civil war that shaped Afghanistan's turbulent political landscape.
