Kanva Dynasty

The Kanva Dynasty was an ancient Indian royal family that ruled from around 75 BCE to 30 BCE, following the fall of the Shunga Dynasty. Founded by Kanva, a minister who seized power, the dynasty is known for restoring stability and supporting Buddhism and Brahmanical traditions. Its capital was Pataliputra, a major cultural and political center. The Kanvas were eventually overthrown by the rise of the powerful Andhra dynasty. Though their rule was brief, they contributed to the cultural tapestry of ancient India during a time of transition between earlier empires and new emerging powers.
