Maurya Dynasty

The Maurya Dynasty was an ancient Indian empire that existed from around 321 to 185 BCE. Founded by Chandragupta Maurya, it is known for unifying most of the Indian subcontinent. The most famous ruler, Ashoka the Great, expanded the empire and later promoted Buddhism and non-violence after a transformative experience in battle. The Mauryan administration was marked by a structured bureaucracy, extensive trade networks, and remarkable architecture, such as the Ashoka Pillars. The dynasty significantly influenced Indian culture, governance, and religion, leaving a lasting legacy on the region's history.
