Jodo Shinshu

Jodo Shinshu, also known as Shin Buddhism, is a branch of Pure Land Buddhism founded by Shinran Shonin in Japan during the 13th century. It emphasizes reliance on the compassionate vow of Amida Buddha, who promises to save all beings who sincerely call upon him. Unlike other Buddhist schools that stress individual efforts for enlightenment, Jodo Shinshu teaches that enlightenment is attained through faith in Amida and the recitation of his name, "Namu Amida Butsu." This approach fosters a deep sense of gratitude and community, making it accessible to people from all walks of life.
