Jiang Qing

Jiang Qing was a prominent Chinese political figure, best known as the wife of Mao Zedong, the leader of the People's Republic of China. Active during the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976), she was a key supporter of radical policies aimed at enforcing communism and suppressing traditional culture and intellectualism. Jiang Qing led efforts to promote revolutionary art and propaganda, influencing various cultural movements. After Mao's death, she was arrested and tried for her role in political persecutions and upheaval during the Cultural Revolution, eventually receiving a death sentence that was later commuted to life in prison.
