International legitimacy
International legitimacy refers to the acceptance and recognition by the global community of a state’s actions, institutions, and policies as valid and appropriate. It is shaped by factors such as adherence to international laws, norms, and treaties, as well as the principles of democracy and human rights. A government or organization gains legitimacy when its actions align with these standards and are acknowledged by other states and international bodies, fostering cooperation and support. Conversely, a lack of legitimacy can lead to isolation, conflict, or challenges in diplomacy.
