Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada
Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) was a government department responsible for policies and programs related to Indigenous peoples and northern communities in Canada. Its focus included areas such as treaty negotiations, land management, and social services. INAC aimed to improve the quality of life for Indigenous peoples and facilitate self-determination. In 2019, INAC was restructured into two new departments: Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada, to better address the unique needs and rights of Indigenous communities and northern territories, while fostering reconciliation and collaboration with Indigenous nations.
