Iamblichus
Iamblichus was a Neoplatonic philosopher from the 3rd century AD, known for his writings on religion and metaphysics. He emphasized the importance of divine hierarchy and the role of the soul in the cosmos. Iamblichus argued that true knowledge comes from the divine, and he advocated for religious rituals as a means to connect with the divine. He is best known for his work "On the Mysteries," where he defends the practice of theurgy, a spiritual practice aimed at invoking the gods and achieving unity with the divine. His ideas influenced later philosophical and religious thought.
