İttihat ve Terakki Cemiyeti

İttihat ve Terakki Cemiyeti, or the Committee of Union and Progress, was a political group formed in the early 20th century in the Ottoman Empire. It aimed to modernize the empire, promote nationalism, and implement reforms to counteract growing internal and external pressures. The group played a significant role in the Young Turk Revolution of 1908, which sought to reinstate constitutional governance. However, their rule became associated with authoritarianism and controversial actions during World War I, notably the Armenian Genocide. Ultimately, they were influential in shaping the transition from the Ottoman Empire to modern Turkey.
