High Seas
The High Seas refer to parts of the ocean that are not under the jurisdiction of any particular country. These areas, located beyond a nation's territorial waters (usually 12 nautical miles from shore), are open for use by all countries. Activities like fishing, shipping, and exploration can occur there, but are governed by international laws, mainly the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). The High Seas are vital for global trade, marine biodiversity, and are often the focus of international agreements to protect the environment and manage resources sustainably.
