Hemlock

Hemlock refers to a group of toxic plants, most notably the poison hemlock (*Conium maculatum*), which has a long history in literature and medicine. It contains potent alkaloids that can be extremely harmful or fatal if ingested, affecting the nervous system and leading to respiratory failure. Hemlock is often associated with the death of the philosopher Socrates, who was sentenced to drink a potion made from it. The plant is characterized by its tall stature, feathery leaves, and small white flowers, resembling other harmless plants, making it crucial to identify it correctly in the wild.
