Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM)
Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) is a type of aggressive brain tumor that arises from glial cells, which support and protect nerve cells. It is characterized by rapid growth, invasiveness into surrounding brain tissue, and a tendency to recur after treatment. Symptoms can include headaches, seizures, and changes in personality or cognition. Despite current treatments, like surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, GBM has a poor prognosis, with a median survival of around 15 months. Research is ongoing to find more effective therapies and improve outcomes for patients diagnosed with this challenging condition.
