Primary Brain Tumors
Primary brain tumors are abnormal growths of cells in the brain that originate there, rather than spreading from other body parts. They can be benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous) and vary in type and behavior. Symptoms often include headaches, seizures, changes in vision, or cognitive difficulties, depending on their location. Treatment usually involves surgery, radiation, and/or chemotherapy, aimed at removing or shrinking the tumor. Neuro-oncology is the medical specialty focused on diagnosing and treating brain tumors, blending neurology and oncology expertise to provide comprehensive care for affected individuals.
