Gandhari is a significant figure from the ancient Indian epic, the Mahabharata. She was the daughter of King Subala of Gandhara and the wife of Dhritarashtra, the blind king of Hastinapura. Known for her devotion, she chose to blindfold herself for life to share her husband's blindness. Gandhari is the mother of the Kauravas, a hundred sons who played key roles in the epic's central conflict. Her character embodies themes of loyalty, sacrifice, and the complexities of motherhood, as she grapples with the moral dilemmas arising from her sons' actions in the struggle for power.
