funnel-web spiders

Funnel-web spiders are a group of spiders known for their distinctive funnel-shaped webs. These webs are typically constructed in grass or among foliage, featuring a silk-lined retreat where the spider hides. Found mainly in Australia and some other regions, funnel-web spiders can be venomous; the Sydney funnel-web spider, in particular, is known for its potent bite. They are also active hunters, waiting for prey to fall into their webs before quickly grabbing it. Despite their fearsome reputation, bites to humans are rare, and fatalities have reduced significantly due to antivenom availability.
