Excisional Biopsy
An excisional biopsy is a medical procedure where a doctor removes a lump or abnormal tissue from the body for closer examination. This is typically done to diagnose conditions like cancer. The doctor makes a small cut in the skin and takes out the entire area of concern along with some surrounding healthy tissue. The sample is then sent to a lab, where pathologists analyze it under a microscope to check for disease. This procedure not only helps in diagnosing but can also remove the problematic tissue if needed.
