Eugenics

Eugenics is a social and scientific movement that emerged in the early 20th century, aimed at improving the genetic quality of the human population. Proponents believed that selective breeding could enhance desirable traits, such as intelligence or physical ability, while reducing the occurrence of undesirable traits, like genetic diseases. However, eugenics often involved unethical practices, including forced sterilization and discrimination against certain groups, leading to significant human rights abuses. The movement is now widely discredited and condemned for its association with racism and its role in the atrocities committed during the Holocaust and other oppressive regimes.
