Eritrean Liberation Front

The Eritrean Liberation Front (ELF) was a movement formed in the early 1960s that aimed to gain independence for Eritrea, a region in the Horn of Africa, from Ethiopian rule. The ELF used guerrilla warfare and political activism to fight for Eritrea's autonomy, as many Eritreans sought self-determination after years of oppression. This struggle eventually led to a protracted conflict, which saw the rise of the Eritrean People’s Liberation Front (EPLF), a splinter group that became prominent in the later stages of the struggle. Eritrea finally achieved independence in 1993 after a long and bloody struggle.
