ENCODE (Encyclopedia of DNA Elements)
The ENCODE (Encyclopedia of DNA Elements) project is a large-scale research initiative that aims to identify and categorize all functional elements in the human genome. Launched by the National Human Genome Research Institute, ENCODE researchers study how genes and non-coding DNA interact and regulate biological processes. This includes understanding which parts of our DNA are active, what roles they play, and how they contribute to health and disease. By providing a comprehensive map of these elements, ENCODE enhances our knowledge of genetics and genome function, supporting advancements in medicine and biology.
