Empirical Knowledge
Empirical knowledge refers to information and understanding gained through observation, experience, and experimentation. In the context of general knowledge, it means knowing something because you have directly witnessed it or have experimented to discover the truth. This type of knowledge is based on evidence and can be tested or verified, making it reliable. For example, knowing that water boils at 100°C at sea level is empirical knowledge, as it can be observed and measured. In contrast, beliefs or opinions that aren’t supported by evidence fall outside empirical knowledge.
