Egyptian Calendar

The Egyptian calendar was a system used in ancient Egypt, primarily based on the lunar cycles and the annual flooding of the Nile River. It consisted of 12 months, each with 30 days, plus an extra five days added at the end, making a total of 365 days. These five days were considered a festive period. The calendar was crucial for agricultural planning, allowing farmers to synchronize planting and harvesting with seasonal changes. Although primarily lunar, it later incorporated solar elements, influencing future calendar systems. The Egyptians used this calendar for religious events, festivals, and daily activities.
