Epagomenal Days

Epagomenal Days are five extra days added to the Egyptian calendar to align it with the solar year. The ancient Egyptian calendar had 360 days divided into twelve months of 30 days each. To account for the additional time it takes for the Earth to complete its orbit around the Sun—approximately 365.25 days—these five extra days were included at the end of the year. Known as "the five days upon the year," they were considered lucky and were dedicated to various gods, marking a significant transition in the ancient Egyptian timekeeping system.
