Ancient Egyptian Calendar

The Ancient Egyptian calendar was a solar system-based calendar consisting of 365 days, divided into 12 months of 30 days each, plus an additional 5 days called epagomenal days. These extra days were added to align the calendar with the solar year, which is about 365.24 days. The year was grouped into three seasons—Inundation, Emergence, and Harvest—linked to the Nile River’s cycle. This calendar helped Egyptians schedule agricultural activities, religious festivals, and government events, reflecting their deep connection to the natural environment and solar cycle.
