Edictum Theodorici
The Edictum Theodorici, or Edict of Theoderic, was a law code established by Theoderic the Great, the Ostrogothic king of Italy, in the early 6th century. It aimed to unify the diverse populations of his kingdom, which included Romans and Goths, by codifying laws to promote justice and order. The edict emphasized the importance of both Roman legal traditions and Germanic customs, helping to bridge cultural divides. It is considered an important step in the development of medieval European legal systems, influencing later legal frameworks and contributing to the governance of post-Roman societies.
